Just outside Les Arcs

Treasures of the Dracénie

Romanesque abbeys, wine estates and hilltop villages: the Haut-Var is full of wonders less than an hour's drive away.

Le Thoronet Abbey

Founded in 1146, this Cistercian abbey is considered one of the purest examples of Provençal Romanesque architecture. Its cloister and remarkable acoustics make it a must-see, about 20 minutes from Les Arcs.

Château Sainte-Roseline

Right in Les Arcs-sur-Argens: a wine estate classified "cru classé" since 1955, whose chapel houses works by Marc Chagall, Jean Bazaine and Giacometti. Côtes de Provence wine tasting on site.

Verdon Gorge & Lake Sainte-Croix

Europe's largest canyon and its turquoise waters, about an hour's drive away. Scenic roads and swimming by the lake make for a memorable day out.

Picturesque lane in a hilltop Var village

Tourtour, Cotignac & Villecroze

These hilltop villages of the Haut-Var, with their stone lanes, waterfalls and troglodyte caves, rank among the most picturesque in Provence.

Porquerolles Island

Reachable by boat from the Giens peninsula, this island of the Port-Cros National Park offers crystal-clear waters and the famous Plage Notre-Dame.

Saint-Tropez & Pampelonne Beach

The legendary harbour and its Place des Lices, then the 5 km of fine sand at Pampelonne just minutes away. Discover Saint-Tropez.

Port Grimaud

Nicknamed the "Provençal Venice", this lakeside town designed by architect François Spoerry is best explored by electric boat along its canals.

Lérins Islands
